A bonding and learning experience
for parent and baby.
A nurturing environment
Kindermusik Village is a place for you and your baby where all the little miracles that seem to fly by so quickly are captured, magnified and celebrated. Where life’s merry-go-round slows down to let you and your child share in the magical moments that happen through music, movement, touch and sounds; where you help your baby to see, touch and hear the world in new ways and in turn you find new ways to be amazed by her; and where parents and children find the true meaning of community.
A world of discovery
Our Licensed Kindermusik Educators will help you peek inside your baby’s miraculous little body and brain and, through these moments of discovery will help you understand how, with every tune and every rhyme, with every tickle and every whisper, with every song and every peek-a-boo, you can help unfold her natural gifts.
Values the education of the whole child in mind, spirit, and body.
In class we will balance the education of your child by experiencing both vestibular, (ear and balance) and visceral (heart and gut) stimulation. In Kindermusik Village we will open each class with a gentle gathering time. During class there will be lots of touching and embracing, a wide range of movement such as rocking, bouncing, flying, swooping, and special attention to vocal development through play activities. We will also incorporate baby signs where appropriate.
Designed for lap babies, crawlers, and walkers.
Kindermusik Village introduces multiple levels of developmentally appropriate activities occurring simultaneously with other babies of this age range because research shows that environments with diverse developmental stages in the first 1 ½ years create an optimal learning setting for both children and parents. In class we may see one baby rocking gently in Dad’s arms, another waltzing on Grandma’s toes, and yet another bouncing on Mom’s knees all at the same time. Depending on whether your baby is on your lap, crawling, or walking, we will help you select various activities.
Educational for you as well as your child.
You’ll have a wonderful time inKindermusik Village classes and you will be surprised by how much you can learn while having so much fun. Throughout your classroom experience and weekly Parent e-mails you will learn how activities aid in your baby’s development and ideas for ways to continue the learning throughout the week. Every time you leave a Kindermusik Village class you will take home a treasure from the day and inspirations for making that experience come alive with your baby at home.
Kindermusik Village classes
Weekly classes are for babies from birth through 1 ½ years with a parent or caregiver and are 45-minutes in length.
What you’ll experience in class
- Variety of music. Musical diversity builds strong neural networks in a baby’s forming mind, which is why each Kindermusik semester contains an array of styles, sounds, and genres.
- Instrument play. Age-appropriate experiences with child-safe instruments enhance a sense of rhythm and steady beat, develop a keen awareness of the distinguishing qualities of sound, and encourage spontaneity and creativity.
- Dance. A classroom full of baby and adult pairs dancing together helps a little body develop the muscle strength needed to crawl and walk and helps a little heart to fall in love with the sheer joy of responding to music.
- Together time. A Kindermusik class is truly the essence of “quality time,” offering you a place to create special memories with your child, gain new insights into your child’s development, and nurture your child’s natural love of music.
- Expert advice. One of our experienced Kindermusik educator will explain “what-to-watch-for” every step of the way and how each activity enhances your child’s complete development.
The learning continues throughout the week
Culturally and stylistically diverse Kindermusik CDs, age-appropriate instruments and specially commissioned art in beautiful books for your baby will aid in visual tracking, shape and color recognition, and language development. They will bring your Village experience home and will become a favorite addition to your child’s music, book and instrument collections for years to come.
In order for you to enjoy and get the most out of your Kindermusik class, we make the following recommendations:
- We will be sitting on the floor for many of our activities. Our Monroe studio has wall-to-wall carpeting and a circle time area rug. Our Southbury studio is a suspended hardwood dance floor with a circle time area rug. If you would like, please bring a soft crib size blanket or bath towel with you for the floor activities. This would be especially appropriate for the youngest infants.
- Remember to dress comfortably. We will be playing on the floor at one moment and the up and moving the next.
- Both parent and baby are shoeless in the class.
- All belongings are kept with shoes in our cubbies and coat rack.
- Nursing and bottle-feeding are permitted in class, if you feel the need, relax against the
wall and observe the activity to do at home. Please set bottles and sippy cups out of
reach of the other children. - The first five or ten minutes of class will be used to purposefully come together. We will play soft
music and have instruments or other materials on the floor for you and baby to explore. Please
greet and visit with other parents and get settled during this time. If you arrive late, please join us! - All instruments and objects are cleaned after each class.
- Due to the nature of the Village class, siblings may not join us. (Check with me if you have any questions).
Take this special opportunity to observe your baby and discover his/her preferences. Sometimes the mother of a walker will be concerned about wandering…this is a natural behavior. If you need ideas for engaging your child in an activity, please let us know. Sometimes lap babies and even crawlers will fall asleep, and all babies may be fussy from time to time. This is also expected. Continue to chant or sing along and be ready to try the activity out at home where baby is more settled or less tired. Babies love it when you actively participate in class and listen to your CDs and read your books at home with your baby!
