Meeting the needs of a variety
of developmental levels
If you are looking for exposure to music and movement, socialization, supporting language and verbal development, encouraging motor development, fostering sensory processing skills, or more time together as a family, Kindermusik has something for everyone.
Celebrates diversity and individuality
The Kindermusik classroom environment celebrates the individuality of each child. We create a safe and nurturing setting that is respectful of each child's developmental stage and invites them to explore, learn, grow and contribute with their families. Each child is allowed to flourish in an environment balanced between educator direction, guidance and responsiveness. Most of all, it is engaging, imaginative and fun!
Nurtures the whole child
The curricula are concerned with nurturing the development of the whole child, viewing the parent as a partner in this work. Kindermusik Foundations of Learning insights serve as the key to involving parents by educating them about how activities in the classroom and in the At Home Materials stimulate the different domains of the children's total development. It is helpful to your child's Kindermusik Educator to know what type of services your child may be receiving so we may best support this in our classroom.
At Music for Little Hands, children with special needs have the option of participating in a class, with or without a parent, that meets their developmental level, or in a class designed specifically for children with special needs and their parents. We are experienced in supporting families with children who have a variety of needs including Down's Syndrome, hearing loss, language and speech delay, autism spectrum, PPD/NOS, Sensory Integration Disorder and physical, social and cognitive delays or disabilities.
Which class would be best for my child?
When choosing a class for your child please consider your child’s developmental level, not just their age. You know your child best and you will know which level will best meet your child’s needs, but a discussion with the director is recommended when choosing a class.

Village (newborn to 18 months)
Consider this class if your child is an infant or toddler with developmental delays in motor or cognitive skills, or an older child with a profound disability. Activities focus on multisensory stimulation, exploration of objects and instruments in a more free style to encourage concrete planning skills, song and rhymes which feature basic speech sounds, and movement activities which can be done in an adult’s arms, standing, or modified for seated.

Our Time (18 months -3 1/2 yrs.)
This class suits a wide range of children with differing abilities who still require or prefer one-on-one interaction with a parent or caregiver. Speech and language development, gross and fine motor skills, social skills, and concept learning are goals in this level. The classes feature instrument play (instruments used require only moderate grasp, and I can easily adapt them), dance and movement exploration (again, can be done in arms, facilitated standing, or free moving- wheelchairs are welcome, too!), and song and language play, including a story, which develop speech.

Imagine That (3 1/2 - 5 yrs.)
If your child is functioning in the preschool to kindergarten range, is developing language and peer interaction skills, and would enjoy the challenge of using musical activities in an extended, imaginary way, this level may be just what you are looking for. The children participate independently in a group for the first portion of class, though any child who requires a facilitator, or just an occasional extra assist, is welcome to bring them for the whole class. (Some of the non-disabled preschoolers still want those special grownups in, too!) This level develops more complex movement patterns, abstract, imaginative thought, turn-taking, and expressive language development. As in the previous levels, this is accomplished through a combination of song, instrumental, movement, and play activities.
