Capturing the creative spirit

His blanket becomes a Superhero’s cape…A cardboard box doubles as her magic castle…
Kitchen chairs line up as his train…

Sound like someone you know? Someone who amazes you daily with an incredible sense of imagination, boundless energy and enthusiasm?

Today he’s an artist or a cowboy. Tomorrow she’s a doctor or a musician. Every day brings a new discovery as your child opens the doors of individuality and independence. And now, together, you can discover just how far a little imagination…and a lot of music…can go.

Building upon self discovery

At an age when a child’s imagination is soaring and every experience becomes an opportunity for self-discovery, Kindermusik Imagine That! provides an extraordinary musical atmosphere. You will explore the power of pretend play with exceptional music, movement activities, singing and literature as building blocks, with a caring and observant licensed Kindermusik Educator as your guide.

The power of music

Using the power of music, Kindermusik’s Imagine That! taps into your preschooler’s creative spirit and boundless energy and focuses on developing his learning strengths and self-confidence so he’ll be ready for school, prepared for future music lessons…or able to leap tall buildings.

Bringing individuality to life

Imagine That! provides you with an opportunity like no other…a chance to watch your child’s unique personality and developing individuality come to life. Together you’ll sing, dance, laugh and grow.

By playing an active, expressive role in every classroom experience, your child will reflect, compare, make choices, express opinions, solve problems, sing, act and move while uncovering new revelations in an exciting world of exploration.

Educational for you as well as your child

In Sharing Time each week your Educator will share information and observations about the day’s class as well as Kindermusik Foundations of Learning—how the activities are fostering your child’s development and ways to continue the learning throughout the week. In addition, you will receive weekly Parent e-mails with further information, reminders and suggestions.

Kindermusik Imagine That! classes

Weekly classes are for preschoolers 3 to 5 years old and are 45-minutes in length. Parents and caregivers and siblings join in for the last 15 minutes of class.

What you’ll experience in class

  • Pretend Play. Pretend play activities are integrated with music, vocal development, storytelling, listening, movement and literacy aspects of each class. When based upon a child’s real life experiences, pretend play helps develop language, sensory, motor and cognitive skills.
  • Musical Variety and Singing. Activities include a mixture of musical genres and styles and provide a setting for your child to explore his many voices and to use a “singing voice.” Singing helps with memory and recall, physical development, creativity and socialization.
  • Storytelling and Literacy. Each class is built on the development of a story, so you’ll hear preschoolers search for the word to say what they mean and try to keep up with their busy minds, emerging wants, needs, likes, and dislikes.
  • Parent Involvement. Preschoolers are learning to be self-sufficient in a group setting of peers, while many times still needing the emotional security provided by a parent. He’ll experience both in Imagine That! Caregivers participate in the last 10-15 minutes of class. Plus the At Home Materials ensures the learning continues at home with your child’s best teacher—you!

The learning continues throughout the week

Culturally and stylistically diverse Kindermusik CDs with music for the whole family, Family Activity Books, interactive play sets, specially designed instruments, a colorful child-size backpack and colorfully illustrated and delightfully written literature books will encourage self-play, self-esteem, creativity, pretend, experimentation and discovery, and language development.

In order for you to enjoy and get the most out of your Kindermusik class, we make the following recommendations:

  • Please encourage your child to use the bathroom before class. At this age, when one has to go, they all have go! (And some refuse to leave the classroom at all because they are afraid they’re going to miss something.)
  • Plan to bring your child on time to class – remember to bring their Kindermusik Backpack and Family Activity Book to each class! If you are a few minutes early please feel free to explore the objects and instruments with your child that we have set out in the classroom. When it is time to leave do so with a quick hug or kiss. Children this age do far better with a promise that you will be back very soon – have fun!
  • Please wait with your child until class starts. If you are late, please bring your child into the classroom quietly!
  • I will always call attention to the Home Activity in your Family Activity Book, and we will place a sticker on the page to help you to remember which activity to do during your week before the next class. Please remember to complete the activity at home, and when applicable, put it into your child’s Kindermusik backpack. Children can get very upset when others have something that they don’t – please help your child remember to bring your backpack and family activity book to class!
  • It may take a few weeks for your child to feel comfortable in a new group experience. Bringing a special stuffed animal may ease separation anxiety from you and provide a familiar friend in a new group. Please feel free to bring your child’s special someone.

Please join us for the last 10-15 minutes of class. We will call you into the room when we are ready for you. You and any siblings are encouraged to come into the classroom and join in the activities during this time. Have a seat on the floor, relax, and enjoy this special time with your child! You may be surprised by your child’s behavior when you join the class. (Keep in mind that it is not always indicative of the way they participate in class!) Your child may ignore you, run to you full of excitement, or sometimes become like a limp noodle. Keep in mind that it takes a lot of energy at this age to try new things, work with others, and use their “classroom” behavior. As soon as you are present they feel safe to release their energy and emotions and be completely themselves.  Typically during Sharing Time we will do circle dances, explore new instruments and play musical games. We invite your full and joyful participation during this time!
